After more than week of harsh rainfall by Typhoon Gener and unnamed calamity-causer Monsoon, the sun finally appears in the Philippines again. Non-stop rain from the monsoon accumulated to 472 mm of flood which even beat 2009's devastating typhoon, "Ondoy". Almost 2,000 families had flooded homes and destroyed livelihood. Classes had been suspended consecutively and a number of deaths have been recorded.
"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade"
Despite the condition, Filipinos look at the brighter side of things. No storm or monsoon could not stop Filipinos from having fun. Truly IT IS MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES.
As much as Filipinos would like to have fun, we also have a sense of heroism. No matter how small of a heroic act, Filipinos would do everything to help not only their brothers and sisters in need but also the animals in need.
Various students from different schools initiated voluntary work for the victims. Donations were sent out and classes were suspended for the relief operations. As much as I wanted to help out with preparation and distribution of donations, I was not allowed to go since most streets were still flooded.
This calamity may have damaged a lot but in this, heroism and unity shined through. It proved how united Filipinos are and that definitely, It is more fun in the Philippines.
